about
HERE LIES THE LION THAT LIED IN YOUR BED
If I may, I’d like to address my hopes regarding this album. I consider this to be my first true album. I’ve put out 3 EP’s with the Marthas and 3 myself before, but none was a complete idea in the way this is in content and length. I regard my past recordings as analogous to a sketch of various ideas and points in time where as this release is a painting that, for better or worse, was crafted and tested through changing ideas and states of mind. I wanted my first full length to be an acoustic album because it represents to me my most honest and candid songwriting. Though I’ve been playing for a while and have been active in bands, this is essentially the beginning, and I felt that as a beginning it needed to represent my story in its most capably pure form. In addition to my personal motivations, I hope the songs are just enjoyable to anybody who graciously gives an honest listen. For me, an incredible catharsis as some of these have been weighing on me for some time, but really an opportunity to move faster into the future and explore places I haven’t made it to yet- that’s what I’m really looking for.
*I know a lot of people have been using kickstarter to fund projects (because anyone can tell you it’s not cheap) and it seems like an effective tool for some people but it’s something I haven’t decided if I’m comfortable with yet. I feel like you should get what you pay for and that in buying an album or merchandise that’s a worthy investment and vote of confidence into someone’s project. Hell, if you really want to spend $100 to support an artist you can buy 10 copies and give 9 of them away to people that haven’t heard it- that’d really help a lot. What I’d like to do is offer my album as “pay what you want” – from 0 to Rupert Murdoch- HOWEVER – Every dollar will go to getting 12” Vinyl LP’s pressed when there’s enough money to do so.
WHAT DOES THAT MEAN:
You pay what you want and if you pay $15, you get it free when they come in. It's essentially a pre-order. Any money at all though will help get to that point and as soon as possible, I’ll order them up and they’ll be available at shows and online. If you feel the downloads are worth a few bucks themselves- everything helps but mostly I just want you to have the music. Also- any additional money after the LP goal is reached will go to pressing 7" of special limited edition B-sides. I’ll post an update with the numbers and maybe a cool graph to show the progress but I’d really like this to make it into physical format because that’s the way it’s intended to be.
***IF YOU ARE LOOKING TO PRE-ORDER THE LP MAKE SURE YOU EMAIL SLEEKSPEEK (at) GMAIL (dot) COM FOR SHIPPING INFORMATION ETC. THIS IS ESSENTIAL OTHERWISE YOU MAY NOT GET IT.
If you have any questions also direct those to sleekspeek (at) gmail (dot) com
Thank you enormously for your support and I hope you enjoy this music.
